Prakriti represents the permanent Ayurvedic constitution of an individual. Fixed at the moment of conception (Shukra-Shonita), it is the specific ratio of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha that defines your physical architecture and mental temperament.
In modern scientific parlance, Prakriti is the Genotype-the underlying genetic code that remains essentially unchanged throughout life. While environmental factors (Epigenetics) can influence how these genes are expressed (Vikriti), the core Prakriti determines your baseline metabolism, structural endurance, and neurological response to stress.
The Composition of Prakriti
Clinical diagnosis identifies three primary categories of Prakriti, though most individuals are dual-doshic (e.g., Vata-Pitta):
Eka-Doshaja
Rare. High degree of pure traits (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha). Often presents more clinical vulnerabilities.
Dwi-Doshaja
Common. Combination of two forces (e.g. Pitta-Kapha). Balanced but complex to manage.
Sama-Doshaja
Ideal. Perfect equilibrium of all three forces. Rare and associated with exceptional health.

Understanding your Prakriti is the foundation of P4 Medicine (Predictive, Preventive, Personalized, Participatory). It allows you to:
Predictive Risk
Identify your "Achilles heel" (e.g. Kapha dominance predicts metabolic risk/insulin resistance).
Precision Diet
Eat for your specific metabolic velocity rather than generic nutrition advice.
